How to get to us?
By car
We offer excellent connectivity to all the principal towns in Essex. Our practice is just a 12-minute drive away from the A406 in South Woodford, which provides efficient access across the region.
If you’re coming to FIRST Ortho by car you can either use our on-road parking, directly outside the practice or you can use the Queen’s Road car park nearby.

By rail
FIRST Ortho is located at 102-104 Queen’s Road, Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Once you get to Buckhurst Hill Underground, we’re a seven-minute walk, so we’re really easy to get to.
- From Romford: Take the Elizabeth Line towards Liverpool Street but alight at Stratford. From there, switch to the Central Line going towards Epping and exit at Buckhurst Hill.
- From Chelmsford: Take a Greater Anglia train to Stratford, London, and then switch to the Central Line to get to Buckhurst Hill.
- From Colchester: Board a Greater Anglia train to Liverpool Street Station, then change to the Central Line eastbound towards Epping, alighting at Buckhurst Hill.
- From Basildon: You would travel on a C2C train to London Fenchurch Street, take the Tube or walk to Bank Station, and catch the Central Line eastbound.
- From Brentwood: Catch a TfL Rail service to Stratford and transfer to the Central Line there.

There are different types of orthodontic braces and the best type for you will depend largely on your needs and also on your preferences and your lifestyle.
When you come to see us at FIRST Ortho, your orthodontist will discuss your best course of treatment with you, as well as recommend the best type of equipment for your needs so you get the best results. FIRST Ortho designs, manufactures and supplies:
Ceramic braces, which use a transparent ceramic material so older teens and adult patients have a more discreet way to correct any alignment issues.- Functional braces, which correct a less common bite issue called overjet – only a small number of orthodontists in the UK offer these braces.
- Incognito lingual braces, these braces sit behind the teeth instead of on the front, making them even more discreet than ceramic braces
- Invisalign braces, a popular and much less invasive choice for children and adults with mild cases of dental misalignment
- Bonded and removable retainers to correct and maintain the arch shape of a set of teeth; FIRST Ortho makes retainers which can treat up to eight teeth, whereas most UK orthodontists offer retainers for only four to six teeth

Misaligned teeth can suffer from unusual wear patterns as they’re not fitting together as they should when you chew.
Over time, these wear patterns can weaken teeth, causing cracks and even breakages.

Are weekend appointments available for schoolchildren at FIRST Ortho?
We don’t offer weekend appointments, but we’re open from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday so an afternoon appointment needn’t disrupt your child’s education.
If we’ve fitted your child with braces, then their follow-up appointments for adjustments are usually scheduled for every few weeks and don’t take long at all, leaving lots of time for learning!
Do you treat nervous dental patients?
We certainly do! FIRST Ortho has been welcoming nervous patients for years and many find that they’re much less nervous once they step inside the practice.
The atmosphere feels more like a spa than an orthodontist and our staff are (we might be biased…) a delight to be around, which is why even our most nervous patients keep coming back.
